Diesel (Steel Paragons MC #2)

Ellie
My whole life I’d spent doing what my father wanted. I never thought twice about it. My path was paved and I was happily driving down it, clueless to what I was driving into. But all it took was one night with a stranger to change my world forever. One night and suddenly my eyes were open. All I wanted to do was find him again but I didn’t even know his real name. Sheltered in life and unable to even know what I wanted, I tried my best to go along with my father’s plans for me. But then one little bump in the road had me more confused than ever. Defying my father left me with no place to go. All I knew was that I had to find him and hope he didn’t turn his back on me.
Diesel
As the Enforcer for the Steel Paragons MC, I got the dirty jobs most of the time. I didn’t mind it. In fact, I loved it. I was good at it. It gave me what I needed. I would do anything for my brothers. They had become my shelter at a very dark time. Then they gave me an outlet for that darkness. I kept life simple. Brothers above others. I had no need for relationships. And to keep that simple I had rules. I followed them for a reason. Three simple things I did to keep my life in check. And it worked with the countless number of people that fell into bed with me. Until it didn’t. One night with her and I threw all my rules out the window. But the thing was, I had no choice but to leave her the next day. I knew what I was getting myself into, and yet, I still dived in head first. I tried my best to forget her but she wouldn’t leave my mind. When she unexpectedly showed up at the clubhouse, I should have been thrilled. The thing was, the situation she was in threw me back to the past. I didn’t know how to shake the darkness of my past to live for the future. And the last thing I wanted to do was dirty such a beautiful, innocent woman. Because that was all I was good at.
**A warning, this book may not be for everyone. After Diesel meets Ellie, he tries his best to forget her and move on with his life. The only way he knows how to do that is to go back to the life he had before she walked in and shook up his world. And by that, he throws himself into meaningless sex with many different people. But do not worry, they do get their HEA.

I know I’ve read something similar to this, but for the life of me, I can’t remember. Diesel has baggage; he suffered a loss, and decided that he would never open to his heart to be hurt again. I know this can be sticky for some readers, but IMO, his hang up was the loss, not the dead ex. He felt guilt, but never had thoughts of longing. To deal with this gaping empty hole in his heart, he fills it up with sex… lots and lots of sex. Ellie is a sweet little naïve thing, that pretty much does everything everyone tells her. She’s engaged to an asshole that wants her to cash in her V-card prior to the wedding so he doesn’t have to deal with it. She meets Diesel at a bar, and they have a connection that lingers after the ONS.
I typically don’t like the sheltered virgin as the love interest for my anti-H’s. They’re typically buzzkills complaining when anything gets dicey… good news is that Ellie is pretty cool. Sure, she cries and acts wimpy, but doesn’t get all bent out of shape with the darker parts of mc life. I actually liked Diesel which is shocking because the whiny “I’m broken” H usually isn’t my thing, but he wasn’t that bad… if you can overlook the whoring around.
Ok-safety is going to be a big thing… I would only recommend this to readers that have a large tolerance for unsafe shenanigans. I guess none of it is
technically cheating, but there's on-page sex with OW. You can msg me if you want specifics, but to give you an idea, the entire prologue is a sex scene with Diesel and club whore Tammy. (he hasn't met the h yet, but a lot of readers won't be down with this) During the separation she has sex once (on-page), and he has sex multiple times. One situation (no penetration) is on page, and were told about another hookup with Tammy followed by a busy night. After the reconnection there’s a quick, drunken on-page sex scene that Ellie overhears. They aren’t in a relationship, he’s still avoiding her, but she is in a condition that makes it all kinds of messed up.
Bottom Line- This is drama-llama and not safe. It started getting a little more OTT/unrealistic towards the end, but a decent read if you can deal with OW drama. I will say that if you are more tolerant of OW stuff, it is made easier because we have his POV, and know where his head is while things are going on. He’s never cruel, but is distant and keeps pushing her away. I did like Ellie, but this would’ve been juicier had she held a grudge, and not always been so understanding. There’s some violence, but not dark or gritty.

3.75, the overall plot and direction was really interesting and I really enjoyed, but due to some parts being a bit messy and one of the characters just being a inconsiderate butthole I had to give it that score.

I’m all for jerk heroes who hurt the heroine but this guy pushed the heroine away for far too long. And it took him forever to deal with his emotional crap and man up. Once he finally did he was fantastic, but the majority of the book is him hurting and staying away from the heroine. Also, she cried constantly, for everything which became a bit too much after a while. He was so sweet and loving finally toward the end of the book but I felt it was too late, plus I never did feel much of a connection between them. The heroine was a total doormat, unfortunately.

This is book 2 in the series.
Diesel and Ellie.
There were hints in the last book that Diesel was sleeping around but looking for something more.
It is mentioned in the blurb that he is with other people after he meets the heroine.
This is a tricky one for me it is not cheating as such as they are not technically together but she is back in his life and he certainly hurts her by his actions and she wants to be with him but their future is not settled so technically he is not in any way committed to her but any decent guy with his head screwed on wouldn't do what he does.
But he is a tortured soul so he messes up.
We catch up with Regan and Loch from book 1 and there is a real bond of close brotherhood at the club and hints of possible other storylines.
I felt it was good of the author to put the possible cheating warning in the blurb, it can be typical of an MC book for this type of thing to happen though not always in the way it does in this story but if you can deal with his behaviour then this is a good book.

Loved Ellie and Diesel!!!This was a brilliantly written MC book. It had everything I want in an MC read. The storyline was very fast paced and oh so good. Loving this cast of characters for sure....was really heartbroken for the loss of one of beloved brothers though. Such sadness and a shame they couldn't grieve like they should have.
Keep writing them and I'll keep reading them. Now onto the next book.
Highly recommend

DieselThis is a new author for me. I enjoyed the story. It wasn't all hearts and roses, it was real life stuff.

Hero likes/ loves heroine but is not willing to open his heart to her and their child (result of one night stand) because of past (losing his first love and unborn child to suicide).
I really wanted to see heroine's evil father, mother and fiance suffer. Why were we denied that?
Really liked all the character.
There is crazy ow drama. The Ow is other than hero's first love of course. She is the club whore and gets possessive of him.
It was really heartbreaking to see the heroine break when she hears hero having sex with OW - the club whore..

Decent read. One chapter threw me off - Hero goes to see someone he has a connection with to talk about his past and his feelings for the heroine - this someone is male and he slept with him in book 1. I wasn’t aware he had slept with a male since I did not reard book 1. I dont think I would have read this had I know the Hero had been with a man but his love interest would be a woman. In my mind, I wonder would heroine be enough since hes bi?
Also, Hero starts to get it on with clubwhore and heroine hears but doesn’t really say much to him. No grovel or anything.

I can understand Diesel sleeping with the club skanks after Ellie because he didn't know he'd see her again. It's the way he was with her after she arrives at the clubhouse that bothers me. He screwed around with a club skank in the room next door and she heard everything.

This is the second book in the Steel Paragons MC series and I enjoyed this as much as I did the first one.
Diesel is the Enforcer for an MC that is trying to go legit, someone with a dark past who doesn’t want to form romantic connections but quite happy to have sex with anyone one willing to overlook the need for emotions in the bedroom.
Ellie is the good girl of a city Mayor. She has been forced into taking a certain path all her life and been trained to do as she is told, even as far as dating and becoming engaged to the man her father told her too, even though she didn’t have any feelings for the man. Her soon to be husband decides that he doesn’t want the hassle of taking her virginity before the wedding, and sends her out with some of his female friends for her bachelorette party to find a man to have sex with. She meets Diesel and they form a connection when Diesel is the first person in Ellie’s life to actually care about how she feels.
After their night together they go their separate ways, feeling that they maybe could have more, if things were different.
I really love the way this author develops her characters. They slowly reveal aspects of their personality as we unravel their history and things become clearer about their behaviour.
I like how the MC in this series is set up, with a dangerous past, but wanting to get away from criminal activity. This series is about how they are trying to untangle themselves from crime but the criminal world keeps reaching out and trying to draw them back in. This background storyline, to the main romantic one, helps create a background of characters, giving the relationship a place to breathe a grow. We are treated to the other personalities within the club and it makes you itch to find out how they all came to be the way they are and what comes next for them all.
It’s a very well written book, with interesting characters, lots of heart, angst and happiness. What more could you ask from an MC book?

I loved this book! I fell in love with Ellie. At first I thought she was going to get on my nerves because she seemed so naive but she grew on me like her backbone grew. Can’t wait for the next book.

All I can say is I loved this book but then I've loved them all. Lots of ups and downs between the two main characters. I would recommend reading in order though not necessary. Eve Hart keep up the good work ,you write them we'll read them.
