“I don’t know how I’ll feel when I’m dead, But I don’t want to regret the way I lived.” – Yuji Itadori

First it was Kakashi (Naruto) and then it was Aizawa (BNHA), and now it's Gojo... clearly I have a type... 😂
Just when I thought I was done with the shōnen genre, Jujutsu Kaisen comes along and slaps me upside the head. Whilst this manga isn't anything groundbreaking or original (it literally has all the tropes of a typical shōnen), it was so damn fun and addictive. The characters were all so memorable and the battles scenes were so badass!
I'm also super picky with art styles (I almost didn't watch FMAB lol), but I really liked the style here. And I found the horror elements to be the right amount of disturbing.

Overall, Volume 1 was a great start to the series and I can't wait to see where the quest takes Yuji. If you're a fan of shōnen manga, I would highly recommend checking this one out! I can't wait to binge the anime on Netflix.

After reading Jujutsu Kaisen vol 1 I understand more why other battle manga titles are disappointing to some readers. While the story isn’t breaking new ground the setup gives us a great idea of how our jujutsu members will work together.
This sets up Jujutsu Kaisen’s world so quickly! Yuji is the type of kid I love to read in these battle manga. Good hearted, protective but also rash and daring. He eats a dangerous finger, come on that makes him so worthy of the hero title.
Megumi though won me over on the first page. A loner, he’s used to taking care of the demons quickly and quietly. He’s all work so he’s really solid and dependable but he really needs someone like a Yuji in his life.
Honestly I could totally go with just these two and Gojo, their teacher. (Who eerily reminds me of Naruto’s teacher.) Gojo himself is such a great character a bit of a devil as a teacher, but you’ll certainly learn and grow or die trying. But we need a girl and Nobara is it. I didn’t really like her much. She makes a real sacrifice for a kid but like Yuji I think it was the wrong choice. We’ll see how she goes from here, later she’s made the damsel in distress. I hope this time she takes some action.
I really liked how different Yuji’s demon is to Naruto’s nine-tailed fox. He isn’t going to play nice and his attitude suits this world. All the demons have this horror feel to them that is actually scary. That’s all due to the art and I really applaud the atmosphere it brings.
You’ll want to jump into Jujutsu Kaisen vol 1, this is a great start to a new battle manga series with characters you want to see succeed with every mission.

I am planning to read the mangas before watching the anime. So here I am, done with the first volume and enjoying it!
I loved the intense fight scenes, the humor, the dark tone of the world-building, and the fascinating fantasy aspects. This was a great start, though there were quite a few confusing times, it's understandable since it's only the first volume.

chapter 1-7
Started watching the anime a few days ago (and its at episode 5 atm) so I went straight into reading the manga.
I'm more into reading romance, but I was really interesting world building and fantasy elements. I'm also really digging the characters, fighting, and magical lore.
Plus I might be a bit obsessed with Satoru Gojo--sue me.

The show is such an accurate adaption, it doesn’t look like I’m gonna walk away having learned anything new from the volumes that have already been used for the show. I’m enjoying the little tidbits from the author though, and again, it’s such a wonderful story. I don’t mind retreading old ground a few times.

Confession: I'd be lying if I said I didn't start Jujutsu Kaisen because of Gojo. The dude was all over my social media for months (thank you, JJK fans) and his appearance reminded me of Kakashi from Naruto—my childhood, basically—so I couldn't resist...
That said, the introductory scene featuring a very enthusiastic high-school occult club (with a staggering total of three members) had me in stitches. I don't know what I expected, but our protagonist Itadori being a member of said club got me instantly hooked. You can't not love him. It's only the beginning, but his impulsive decisions (*ahem* that witch finger) give me the impression this is going to be a wild ride of a manga.
I can already tell this cast is something special. Itadori is an immediately likeable protagonist; his nonchalant agree-to-anything attitude is surely going to have me in shambles later on in the series, especially because his big heart won't let him watch others suffer. I adore his dynamic with Megumi, who is dark and aloof in comparison to Itadori's more bubbly nature. Gojo was freaking hilarious as expected, and Nobara seems like a complete girlboss. I'm curious as to how this world of demons and curses will unfold, as I've scene one or two scenes from the anime featuring Gojo's 'domain expansions'. I'm intrigued, to say the least.

NGL JJK is quickly becoming one of my favorite series.

"You count as half a Curse."
Note: I first watched the first season of the anime series first before I got to the manga, one volume after another.

"I don't want to have regret when I am still alive."
Yuuji, you go!
Premise: Itadori Yuuji is a schoolboy with extraordinary physical strength and very good at sports. One day, he was told by a mysterious boy who claims to be a sorcerer that they must recover an extremely powerful and dangerous Cursed object before other students accidentally unseal said object.
(1) The story is pretty much your 'new kid goes to a magical boarding school' setting but there is a twist, the new kid is (view spoiler)?
Naruto, anyone?
(2) I watched the anime and damn, it's very entertaining and endearing! Highly recommend although I don't think the story is breaking much new ground so far.
(3) But to think about it, why would one of the most dangerous Curses be stored in a fxxking high school in the fxxking Sendai ?🤣
(4) I really like Sukuna's first appearance in the story and I also like how Sukuna looks in the last panel! Sukuna v.s. Special Grade Curse! YO!
(5)
"After I get this kid's body, I'll kill you first."
Sukuna is epic!!!!!! *fangirl's screaming*
(6) I like Nobara and her first battle! Her power is super cool! Plus I'm really grateful that the author didn't force her into being a love interest with any of the guys, that would be so boring!
(7)
"Seems like it will be a pleasant Hell."
Gojo sensai is so sugoi~plus I like his first appearance, with his souvenir bag on his arm!!! He is just so casual and so certain of his power yahoooo!!! *more fangirl's screaming*
"What's the matter now?"
(8) The paranormal club Yuuji was in, all of the three members are all so cute! I am not sure whether to be sad about not seeing Yuiji's two upperclassmen or not!? (we don't see them mean they are still out of harm's way, right?)
(9) When Sukuna first showed up he didn't look that terrifying (unlike what would happen afterward), perhaps even the King of Curse went out of practice a bit after 1000 years of being sealed away!? XD
(10) I pretty much want to hug everyone!! (but not you, Sukuna!)

Finally, I read this manga after so many times of trying to read it but instead, I ended up reading something else. I watched the anime last year and loved it, it is good to be back in this world again! I missed the characters and...Megumi✋🏻

3.5 stars.
“"Yuuji... you're a strong kid, so help people. It doesn't have to be everyone. Just whenever you can. You may feel lost. Don't expect gratitude. Just help them. When it's your time to go, make sure you're surrounded by others. Don't end up like me."
Yuuji is the most precious character ever!
I swear, he is so sweet and pure I can hardly deal with him. I feel like the sun is looking at me every time he smiles or acts like his adorable self.
Honestly, all the characters are just so incredibly endearing they make me want to warp them in bubble wrap and keep them safe from this cruel, cruel world.
This first volume was a lot of fun and I had a great time getting introduced to all the characters... or, at the very least, a good number of them.
"Beasts with intelligence sometimes confront us with a cruel scale. A scale that pits one life against another."
The world that Gege Akutami is creating here is one creepy and slightly disturbing one that, I'll admit, I haven't quite wrapped my mind around just yet.
It's not like it's overly complex in its broad-strokes but some of the minutiae of it, well, I'll need it to be explained a little more in detail for me to be able to really get it... and probably read it a couple of times at that, too.
As boggling as it is, it has also proven to be interesting and to capture my attention. The powers are cool and I like the feeling of dark magic that it all exudes.
"Curses are born from humans' negative emotions. If that's the case hatred, fear, and regret I'll use it all up."
One of my favorite things about this manga is the way that it mixes really gory and creepy elements with fun and light-hearted moments and characters. It's not an easy balance and contrast to make properly but Gege has certainly managed it. I can be feeling sickened a second and the next I can be in hysterics over their antics.
More than anything, I think I'm in love with the characters and their dynamics. The plot, so far, seems like it's gonna be fine but the intense chemistry of all the characters makes it impossible to look away. I would read the manga even if it didn't have any cool fights if only to see them all again.
That being said, I do think it rude that we were left in such a cliffhanger. I'll admit that I still find a bit odd the way that mangas cut their volumes because cutting a fight right in the middle seems to be a normal practice.
"[...] Thinking that it doesn't involve me there's no way I can convince myself that it's not my fault. No thanks. I can't say what I'll be thinking when I die, but I'm not gonna regret the way I live!"

Wait, that's no way to end a volume.
That's not nice people!
Anyway, I'm so hooked on this story it's almost unbelievable. I just love them all so much and want to see where the story goes.

I just finished the anime and now I need to be able to just safely navigate the internet without risking the spoilers so, naturally, I'm reading the manga. It doesn't hurt that I really liked it.
I'm so excited to just get to expend more time with these precious characters, especially Yuuji, because I just love them all so much.
The fact that the information is written, I hope, will also help me understand the details that are still a little unclear to me.

update January 19th: I am now caught up. It has broken me. I am depressed.
---
I have reached that point where I catch up with the anime and then start reading the manga because I am an impatient bitch.
Anyway. I'm really enjoying this series! It's that perfect blend of action and humor and amazing characters that I love with all my soul. I've always had a soft spot for pure and soft protagonists like Itadori Yuji. That boy deserves the world and all the happiness in it.
Oh, please don't break me, Jujutsu Kaisen.

I love the anime of this series so thought it would be cool to go back and read the manga and I'm so glad I did!
This was great and they adapted this so well. Such a good start and nice to go back and refresh everything that happened.
I love all the characters so much but Gojo is my favourite!
