(Note: This isn't, strictly speaking, a manga, since it was originally published in Korea. I shelved it as "manga" for simple ease in navigating my shelves.)

Aristia continues to take action on her decision to become a knight, and is making limited progress with her sword training with the assistance of young Allendis. She's also growing closer to her father, to the extent that he gives her a gift on her birthday two years in a row. Her training is interrupted when Allendis, and many of the soldiers at the palace as well as a detachment of the palace knights, are called on to suppress rioting out in the countryside.

Somewhat at sea, Aristia decides to train on her own, and is frustrated when she makes no progress with no one to assist her. Coincidentally, she happens upon Carsein de Rass at a weapons shop, and he eagerly offers to help her train. But later, upon learning she is a de Monique, and therefore the emperor's fiancée, his attitude chills considerably. After he witnesses her make some decisions in her self-training that could cause her injury, he decides to assist her after all.

I'm not all that familiar with "a second chance at life after a tragic death" stories. This one is similar to I Swear I Won't Bother You Again in having an oppressive air, with venomous emotion lying not too far beneath the surface of our heroine's life. Allendis and Carsein both seem to hate Aristia, for whatever reason, despite what their friendly or helpful demeanors might indicate. As for Ruveliss, it's hard to tell, but the arrival of Jeiun (sp?) (the Korean girl who ends up being the portal-fantasy heroine of this fantasy world and marries Ruveliss) is looming closer and closer, and Aristia will not have an easy time on her journey to becoming a knight of the kingdom. Especially since her weak body continues to betray her...

I continue to enjoy this story, even if it isn't an unalloyed joy like My Next Life as a Villainess. The art is pretty good, and the color work is often gorgeous. The artist and production people obviously put a lot of effort into creating beautiful, show-stopping covers. I love them! I'm anxious to see how the story progresses, though "I'm looking forward to it" isn't the most accurate way to describe it. More of a combination of anticipation and dread. It would be nice to know what's going on in the heads of the characters who surround Arisita, but it seems those will be revelations for another time.

What does it say about me the fact that I'm able to oversee the fact that he is(WAS) such a bad person to her in her previous life, but now that he's mildly a good person to her and cares about her, I'm fine with his existence?

I mean, the prince is not a bitch right now, BUT I KNOW HE HAS IT ON HIM!!!! So, I will be watching closely.

BUT TIA!? AMAZING, SHOWSTOPPING, SPECTACULAR!!!!!

I was intrigued by the concept of this story in volume one, but volume two really lets the characters shine!

A lot of different plot development in this volume. Allendis and Tia’s friendship deepens, Tia’s relationship with her father is more important than ever, we meet Carsein, Tia’s new frenemy and sword trainer, plus Tia falls ill again, and we get a peek at what might have started crown Prince Douchebag’s enmity to Tia.

The lines and color are as gorgeous as volume one, the whole book is so beautiful. And I’m very excited to see what happens in volume 3 as Aristia continues to change her fate.

Boring. Nothing happened and despite the MC h having goals, she doesn’t do much with moving forward to achieving any of them. And what was with Green Hair and that maid? Does he have a violent side? Not shown enough, just teasing hints.

Weak installment, and if it ends the way it’s been said, then this is the poster child for a great idea gone horribly wrong.

2, weak sauce, stars.

This was not as good as the first one, a lot of dead air that I felt was just filler for the upcoming plot, and just lots of waiting and set up. Not too much to really report in this chapter to be entirely honest.

3.5 rounded up. The melodrama is intense, but the art is glorious.

Plot: Reincarnated to younger self Ex-Empress noblewoman tries to keep herself alive this time around by making alliances and forming closer bonds with people she previously ignored.

1. So first of all it's been a couple of weeks since I read this and all I have to refer to are my chaotic notes so this is more brainvomity than usual. We follow Tia's journey into becoming a knight. Allendis tries to woo her with very limited success. Soldier boy is a good friend regardless of his intentions. There's some sort of coup-like plot going on in the background. The Prince is somehow now the most interesting love interest we've got.

2. I'd like to appreciate this story for many small things which other similar Manhwa have'nt done. Like making Tia consistently competent throughout the story and not letting her lose any of her IQ whenever she comes face to face with a cute guy. Or actually showing the effects of how being treated like crap in her past life means she panics at the Prince whenever he's around. Or how the story shows (without TELLING thank fuck) how the prince puts her needs above his wants. It's a pretty solid story is what I'm saying. Not groundbreaking, but the characters are complex and interesing and the plot has enough weight to drag my emotions along in its wake. Plus, the art is very colorful and very pretty.

Still only here for best boy Carsein like seriously I love his and Tia's friendship, especially how attuned she is to him and how close they have gotten. Still holding on to hope that they end up together but it most likely won't happen 😑 (I always fall for the second—I guess third in this case—male lead that never gets picked because I apparently love the suffering that brings). Oh can't forget one of the best dads, Keirean. The trope of father/daughter relationships in manhwas will probably always be a favorite.

So we continue with our story alongside Aristia, who traveled back in time and is trying to have a better life.  The first time she got royally screwed, so this time she is doing her best to stand by herself.  In her first life she did everything to become the best empress she could be, thinking that was her destiny and her only option.  She always thought that her father didn't love her, only to realize too late that he did, but this time she knows of his love, and he keeps showing her just how much he loves her every day.

This time he is doing everything in his power to help her be happy, even if that means going against the King, for nothing is more important that his daughter.  He even takes her away to give her some space.  Now, during this season/volume we see her relationships with Allendis and Carsein, what's more important here is her relationship with the prince that hurt her so much in her first life.  At first, he is still angry at her, for some reason we don't really understand, but when he find a letter between Allendis and Aristia and he sees how cruel he was to her (in what he thinks was a dream), but that makes him stop and think about his actions and the real fear she has of him, and in that moment, he starts changing, trying to become a better person.

Even if I hate what Ruvellis did in his first life, he hadn't done anything this time, so is it fair to hate him for something he hasn't done?  Even if I don't fully trust him yet, I don't trust Allendis either, so I should give him the benefit of a doubt?  At least this time Aristia is not alone, she not only has her father, she has friends and she is working hard on being independent, even if for some reason now Ruvellis doesn't seem so happy of letting her go, he seems to respect her, instead of hating her for no reason.

Season Two Chapters 47-87 completed! I really don't like how Allendis is getting so obsessed with Aristia! He honestly is so two-faced and fake with Aristia that it's frustrating me. I'd like it a lot more if he was as he is with everyone else towards her. It would be a hell lot more respectful of all the trust she puts in him. I like her dynamic with Carsein a heck lot more. He is very straightforward and is the same with everyone. He works hard towards his ambitions while keeping true to his personality and self when he's around Aristia. I'm looking forward to the next season (3rd) with Carsein is on the cover with her. Even if Carsein isn't her match romantically he beside her as a loyal friend and companion are enough for me. Allendis needs to take a few steps back on the other hand. He's just giving me weird possessive and controlling vibes since the first season with his and Carsein's face off.

The prince is interesting. He's just as dull as you'd expect with little to go on him. He's just changing and noticing Aristia more now in this life because she's acting differently. She is different hence he's changed too. It would have been better to see Aristia controlling the situation with the same attitude as in the past life. Not really attitude but personality. Her Ice Queen nature shouldn't have disappeared completely resulting in a completely new Aristia. If we saw the prince falling for the original Ice Queen and her rejecting him still would have been a far more satisfying result of her second life.

The second volume in and I am pleasantly surprised that this is the first modern manhwa series I am really getting into.

In honesty, the ones I previously tried I really dislike the digital art-webtoon visual direction. It just seems so lifeless to me. This series still has a little bit of that and it is rather excessive in its use of shiny colors, but it is the first time I found digital art like this engaging, even pretty.

It does help that the story itself is pretty solid, I am pretty excited to keep on this series with new releases, no real complaints beyond a bit of slow pacing in the second volume here.
