What do you do when a ring lands in your hands & a stranger proposes to you?!
Honestly, I couldn’t help but giggle over the humorous interactions and chaotic actions of the Knight & Aurora.
This manga is entirely worth the time & definitely worth the purchase!
Thanks to my friend for trusting me w/this rec. 💕

Happier to stay at home embroidering, minor noble Aurora is at a party when she winds up embroiled in higher society. An errant ring lands her the hand of Felix, a royal knight. Can she pin her hopes on this engagement? Or will it end up being just a bit of a stitch-up?
(Let’s pour one out for the ‘Aurora’s barely a-list’ pun I couldn’t quite fit in there.)
Stop me if you’ve heard this one before. A lesser, shy noblewoman is randomly put together with a stoic knight and they slowly begin to bond and also she might have some crazy magic powers hitherto unknown. We’re a Truck-kun away from an isekai heroine backstory.
Things don’t start off on the best foot, since this all takes place in Wellbum Kingdom (ready to fend off threats from the neighbouring Slackass Duchy, no doubt) and the ring in question literally hits Aurora in the head so hard it looks like she’s been shot. I think it’s being played for laughs, but it’s not an especially riotous book.
Anyway, turns out Felix could do without the endless parade of potential brides his sister keeps thrusting at him so he proposes (eh? eh?) that Aurora stay on as his fiancé for a bit and take some of the heat off.
The smash cut to Felix grovelling before Aurora for forgiveness over his actions is pretty great. The generic evil rival of the piece notes later on that it’s clear who’ll be wearing the breeches in the relationship and he’s not wrong, exactly. That’s a nice twist, as Felix is good at what he does, but he can be quite hapless where his new fiancé is concerned.
Aurora is likewise a good protagonist. She really loves her embroidery and when given access to high quality shops later on she’s thirstier there than at any other point in the story. She’s also quite sharp, although she does accept an invitation at the end that couldn’t be any more obviously evil unless it was written in infant blood. And from a character she already saw right through, no less. Decorum, I guess.
Felix turns out to be an ice magic wielder, giving him an excuse to be moody, and a strong fighter whose comrades really need more of a hobby than his love life. The two leads slowly start to come together, along with some typical ‘what are we going to do with you’ stuff from the family members hanging around.
Honestly, the opening chapters with Felix trying to get Aurora to agree to his idea and various people showing up to be helpful or not so much in various contexts is probably the most fun the book has and when it’s most engaging.
Then this whole magic embroidery angle shows up and the author’s hard at work to make this into something - Aurora’s passion for the craft is portrayed very well - but it’s no different than any number of other stories like this. Watching them research precisely what’s going on is utterly boring as well.
Felix and Aurora work well as a couple and the art’s quite lovely and yet it never truly gets past the familiarity of it all. If I hadn’t already read
The Saint’s Magic Power is Omnipotent or
The Savior’s Book Cafe Story in Another World this would be much more novel. But I have, and it’s not.
If you haven’t tired of these types of books or have room in your heart for another one, you could do a lot worse than this, but you could do better too. It’s like a plane that appears ready to head to the stratosphere, but instead lifts about ten feet off the ground and comes in for a landing.
3 stars - Another one of those stories that would probably be quite great if it wasn’t walking a trail worn down by its many, many predecessors. We see a lot of this in manga and, even if this one is rather charming, I’m not sure it does quite enough to stand out.

This is one of those "okay enough" books. It definitely has its moments - I like Aurora as a character and the focus on embroidery is an interesting angle, plus it's somehow not isekai, which is worth a whole star right there. I also very much like the art, particularly the way that Aurora's skirt functions as a skirt with a hoop under it would: it holds its shape no matter the position of her upper body, and that's a costuming detail that manga very often gets wrong. There's also an impression of lightness to the skirt, which is also typical of a hoop. Clearly, someone did their research.
As for the plot? It's okay. But the art alone is going to convince me to read another volume of this.

Cute beginning to a new series. Nothing groundbreaking, but I'm interested.

One of the kingdom’s strongest knight and most attractive bachelor, Sir Clavis is tired of having women constantly throwing themselves at him. Drunk, he flings a wedding ring and proclaims that whomever the ring hits would become his bride. Aurora was quietly minding her own business admiring the beautiful embroidery on all the gorgeous ball gowns when she is suddenly smacked on the forehead with a ring. A handsome stranger is now asking for her hand in marriage. What’s a girl to do?
The story had a promising start, and I enjoyed the art. I look forward to the next volume.

How charming! I randomly stumbled across this at Barnes and Noble yesterday. (Weirdly it isn't even listed on Amazon.)
Sweet fantasy romance manga with lots of pretty art. Looking forward to future volumes.

I'm surprised at how much I loved this book. The plot sounds like a standard contrived romance: fed up with being the most eligible bachelor in the kingdom, our hero Felix randomly pitches a ring into a crowded ballroom and hits our heroine, Aurora. Their temporary engagement is obviously going to end up permanent sooner or later, and I was expecting to see a bunch of tropes on parade. Refreshingly, Felix immediately grovels before Aurora for putting her on the spot, which is the start of a really nice relationship. They suit each other. I also like that Aurora has interests beyond her relationship: she loves embroidery, and her personal storyline looks like it'll revolve around it. Yes, this is definitely the sort of book that wants the pretty trappings of a historical setting without the practicalities, because there are zero chaperones at any point. Usually, this bothers me more, but I guess I was just so charmed by Aurora loving pretty embroidery so much that it didn't get me this time.

I picked this up as I thought it was a super cute premise. The idea that someone got so fed up with their many prospects that they drunkenly decide to marry the person who gets hit by the ring they throw into the crowd is hilarious.
I absolutely adored Aurora. She's gentle and very sweet but doesn't give the rose-colored glasses vibe. I like how smart she is to pick up on things that may not be obvious right away to others. I also really like that embroidery is her passion. I feel like a lot of books with historical settings tend to make the female lead characters not like hobbies like that because they must be different. I also really liked Sir Clavis as well. I enjoyed how his personality doesn't match his looks. I was expecting a cold personality but he is more like a cat lol. I also loved that there was a scene dedicated to getting to know each other. As readers, we get the opportunity to see them ask each other questions which I feel is rare in early volumes of manga. It was a real treat for me.
I liked the introduction to magic and how it was explained in little ways that didn't overwhelm me. I am very curious to see more of the magic in this world. It would definitely be interesting to see Sir Clavis' fortune-telling skills and even his ice magic. The plot also seems like a cute premise. With only volume one, I think the pacing was great. The art style is really pretty. I do enjoy it a lot. My only little complaint would be that all the "pretty" men look very similar, but otherwise definitely pleasing to look at.
Overall, I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. I am super excited to read the next volume. I borrowed this from the library but I may need to add it to my own manga collection. Definitely pick this up if you're looking for a cute and interesting read.

this was cute, with great art and a strong start. the initial scene at the ball, where the ring shoots out of nowhere and bonks her right in the head, is a fun meet-cute I haven't seen before. from there though, it quickly devolves into a pretty normal fantasy romance (think: all the female-led isekai novels, minus the isekai bit). it reminded me a lot of 'a savior's book cafe in another world' and 'a saint's magic power is omnipotent', but both of those did this genre better...their characters and world building were much more compelling. this is okay so far, but after the initial engagement, the plot flounders a bit. the FL of course discovers she's got some magic powers...the knight she's engaged to is super great at combat but stoic...etc etc etc, but their relationship doesn't really progress. the guy seems, for the most part, like he's annoyed by her (though I think it's supposed to be him hiding his feelings, it's just not very apparent).
I might pick up the second volume once it comes out, just to see if it gets any better, but only if my willpower is low atm XD

Beautiful Artwork! Great Storyline!
This first volume is well worth the read. It has both a great storyline and beautifully fabulous artwork! Both of the main characters, Felix and Aurora, are beautiful, and their personalities are well-developed. She loves nothing more than to embroidery, and some of her embroidery is filled with magical qualities, such as healing. He is a strong knight in the king's military and quite an accomplished swordsman, as well as being quite easy on the eyes with hundreds of girls vying for his attention. Because he is tired of being constantly adored by all these women at a party, he says he is going to throw a wedding ring into the crowd and whoever it hits will be his fiancee. It hits Aurora, the only woman NOT hanging all over him, in the face. He declares her his fiancee. My favorite characters after Felix and Aurora are Felix's older sister-in-law and Aurora's older brother. I can hardly wait for Volume 2 to hit my Kindle when it is released in September. I gave this book 5 stars.

The plot for this funny. Aurora attends an evening party, mostly to find inspiration for her embroidery. Something hits her in the head and she picks up a ring. A man announces that she will be his fiancée.
The next day, the knight, Felix, a member of the Royal Guard known as the "Scion of Ice come to apologize to her because he got the idea of throwing the ring because he was drunk and tired of the proposals. The two decide to keep the ruse engagement because it benefits both with not having to do interviews for fiancées.
I picked them up because the cover and premise sounded funny. I saw that these also have light novels so I hope they get released in English so that I can read them. I am sure if is more detailed than the manga and maybe gives us more of it insight into the characters thoughts and feelings.

I really enjoyed reading this! It was one of the first physical manga I bought in Japanese, but I'd been putting off reading it because there isn't furigana and I didn't previously have the energy to write out the kanji I didn't know.
However, I finally read it, and it was amazing! Very cute and fun, with an intriguing storyline and likable characters. I only looked up fantasy/nobility-related vocabulary and it wasn't super difficult grammatically either.i
I own the other three volumes and I'm excited to jump into them next! This series is a nice change of pace from the (lengthier and more difficult) light novels I've been reading lately. 4 stars! Recommended.

The Fiancee Chosen by the Ring wasn't the best manga I've read lately, but it was a fun and easy way to spend part of my evening, so I think it was worth the time!
Aurora is a standard enough female lead, but what sets her apart is her love for embroidery and her remarkably refreshing attitude—accepting, understanding, and very even-keeled. Her relationship with her unexpected fiance, Felix, seems to have started on a good foot in this first volume, and I can already tell that this will be the kind of dynamic where he'll quickly become head-over-heels for her.
I'll add the second book to my TBR, but I don't think I'll buy a physical copy until my opinion on the star rating for the series goes up quite a bit.
