Oh boy. A whole book of Karen being bratty and whiny as she catalogues her gripes about the day. I was too worn down by the pessimism to care when things started to turn around for her.

I think I've just realized that the BSLS adaptations aren't doing it for me the way the BSC ones are. Karen is so bratty it's not appealing to read at all. I don't even know if I want to encourage my kids to read these because of her behavior. I haven't read the source material in so long I couldn't say whether this is from the source or not. But in a time when I would like to think we have evolved to not wanting to teach our kids to talk to their siblings and friends with such disdain, I don't think I will be continuing to pick up this series.

Text-to-Self Connection
Karen is having a very bad day! She believes this day cannot get any worse. I feel her pain, I have had plenty of days that I think will never end or never get better. Karen does not have a good attitude in this book and I feel that if she would have changed her view on everything bad that kept happening it will help her remain calm and accept this might not be her best day. I can relate but on bad days I just stop what I'm doing and reflect on my attitude and remain calm. Karen is younger but it is important to have children reflect on their self and not overreact when they don't always get their way. Her step-mother gave her the idea of pretend to wake up and begin on a new day; on the same day. This is a positive thing to do on a bad day!

Ok, that was super cute. I loved how sweet Sam and Charlie were to Karen.

I read these with my 6 and 4 year old and although we love the series, I think this one was a bit of downer. So many bad things happened to Karen, it went on forever.

This book isn't as entertaining as the previous books in the series, because this time, Karen acts like a bratty and whiny.

Karen started her day off really bad and it just got worse from there. She learns from there that things can get better if you look at things differently and keep a positive attitude. Another cute story!

This book was okay. I think the other set of graphic novels about the babysitter club is better. I know Karen is six, but she was just very unlikeable in this book. I do love the illustrations though!

Another cute retelling done by Farina. There's not much plot to it, but it warms my heart rereading them as an adult.

This is a good book. I like when she had a bad day but it started getting better and they were joking that she had a bad day things world record because she had 14 bad things that day but it started getting better. She was also was being mean to people bc she had a bad day and she wasn’t feeling. She apologized to all the people she was either yelling at or being mean to and that’s one of my favorite parts that she was apologized to the people she yelled at or was being mean to.

I read these as a kid and LOVED Karen. As a little sister to a strong-willed and smart older sister like Kristy, I found Karen so relatable.
The graphic novel version was so fun to read and M I still found the story delightful.
